Which kind of pipe is in your home depends on when it was built and what has been renovated since. We repair and replace copper, PEX, ABS and galvanized pipe in Barrie homes. We also track down leaks you cannot see. You get the findings in plain words, your choices and the price before we start.
What is in your walls
Many houses carry more than one pipe material, especially after a renovation. We look at what you have before suggesting anything, because a repair on one type is not the same as on another.
- Copper: rigid metal supply pipe, repaired by cutting out the damaged section and joining new pipe.
- PEX: flexible plastic supply pipe, common in newer work and renovations.
- ABS: black plastic pipe that carries waste and drain water.
- Galvanized: older grey steel pipe that can corrode from the inside.
Signs worth calling about
A water stain on a ceiling, a damp patch on a wall, the sound of running water when every tap is off, or a water bill that keeps climbing can all point to a leak. So can low pressure or rusty water. You do not need to know where the trouble is. Describe what you see and we will start from there.
How we find a hidden leak
We start with the clues you give us and the places water travels, then narrow it down to the actual pipe or joint. You hear what we found before any work begins, and which parts of the house we need access to.
Repair a section or replace a run
Sometimes a single damaged piece can be fixed and the rest left alone. In other cases the pipe is worn along its length, and replacing the run is the better value. We show you both and you decide. We think you should know the trade-offs, not just the number.
Outdoor and pool plumbing
We also repair outdoor plumbing, such as lines and taps outside the house, and pool plumbing. If you are not sure whether we can help with your setup, call and ask.

Questions we get asked
How can I tell which pipes I have in my house?
Look at exposed pipe in the basement or near the water heater. Copper is shiny orange-brown or green with age. PEX is flexible plastic, often red, blue or white. ABS is rigid black plastic on drains. Galvanized is dull grey metal with threaded joints. Send us a description if you are unsure, and we will confirm on site.
Why is the water from my old galvanized pipes low or rusty?
Galvanized steel can corrode inside, and rust flakes and mineral build-up narrow the pipe over time. That cuts pressure and can tint the water. A section may be repairable, but a badly corroded run is usually better replaced. We look at how far the damage goes before advising.
Is a tiny pinhole leak in a copper pipe worth repairing?
A pinhole leak can be repaired, and it is worth doing early because it will not heal itself. The question is whether the pipe around it is also thin. We check nearby pipe. If it looks sound, we repair the spot. If not, replacing a longer section avoids a second leak.
Do I have to replace all my pipes at once?
No. A section can be replaced while the rest stays, and many homeowners phase the work. We tell you which parts are most worn and which can wait. Mixing materials needs the right fittings so the joints do not cause trouble later. We plan that with you.
What should I do if a pipe bursts after freezing?
Shut off the main water valve straight away and open a tap to drain the line. Switch off the water heater if the burst is near it, and move things away from the wet area. Then call us. We find the damaged length and explain the repair.
Can you fix a cracked ABS drain pipe?
Yes. A cracked or leaking ABS drain is usually repaired by cutting out the damaged part and fitting a new piece. You may notice damp patches, a smell or a slow stain where the pipe runs. We check the nearby joints too, since a crack can hide others.
What can I do while waiting for you to arrive about a leak?
Turn off the water to the fixture or, if you cannot find the leak, at the main valve. Put a bucket under drips, mop up standing water and move electronics and boxes away. Take a photo of any stain. It helps us find the cause faster.
Do you repair leaking outdoor taps and pool lines?
We do repair outdoor plumbing and pool plumbing. Outside taps and the lines feeding them are common trouble spots, and pool plumbing has its own pipework and fittings. Tell us what you have and where the water is showing, and we will tell you honestly what we can do.
